Spotlight on Dads: Brady
How many kids do you have and how old are they? One, Liam is almost 5 ½ months
Do they have a favorite exercise to do with you? He currently loves sit-ups or at least attempting to sit up
Do they have any favorite healthy foods? He loves mommas milk and now venturing into egg yolks and avocados!
How about a favorite treat or “cheat” to enjoy together? He has no cheat foods yet, but I can imagine he will grow up to like ice cream as much as me.
Do you have any tips to get your kids to eat healthier foods or make healthier choices? Start ’em young, get them the knowledge and in the routine early. And also have a strong spouse to help you make healthy choices!
If you could only do 1 exercise for a quick workout what would it be and why? Burpee Pull-ups work every muscle and get the heart rate up and sweat going in a hurry! G.I. Jane Challenge, look it up and try it.
Have you always been active or had active hobbies? Tell us about them! If not, have your activities changed? I’ve always been fairly active, played sports year-round in high school, played football in college, then stayed active from that point on. I’m not one to sit still, and would rather be outside doing something.
How you feel living a healthy lifestyle makes you a better dad? It puts more on my shoulders to be a healthy example for Liam and also be a healthier me. I have a lot more accountability and don’t feel as though working out is something I HAVE to do anymore, but something that I enjoy doing and look forward to each day. Eating healthier has been the most challenging part for me, but Eupraxia has opened my eyes to quite a bit, and having a wife who gets me to eat healthier has been a huge blessing!
Has Eupraxia changed any goals you have for your family and children? I started Eupraxia with no kids and a goal of getting back under 200 lbs for the first time in 10 years. Now after 1 ½ years at Eupraxia, we have a 5 month old and I’m under 200 lbs, so it’s time to create some new goals for the future.
What advice do you have for the dads out there who are struggling to get into shape? Do it for your kids. You want to be around for them as they grow and be able to keep up with them when they are playing in the yard. Don’t be on the sideline, get out and teach them. Find something that you enjoy and do it together. Ideally, you do it for you to achieve a higher state of wellness which also will benefit the little ones in your family by just being a great example.
Anything else you would like to share? Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, both new and old. We all look up to our dads in one way or another and hang on to things that they do as we grow up. Find something healthy and fun that you want your kids to hang on to and start doing it now.
