The Weight Loss Solution that Always Works!
What happens if you’ve been at this awhile and you’re not losing any weight or have hit a plateau?
First thing we’ve got to do is look at how you’re eating. There has been numerous times where people aren’t losing any weight and are telling me “I am eating pretty good, I’m eating pretty good,” and then when they finally actually write everything down and let me look at it with them it is usually not as good as you think.
And the best thing you can do if you’re not losing any weight and you’re really wanting to lose weight and you’re really serious, is write down every single thing you eat and drink including the amounts for about a week and we can go through it together.
Now, let’s say you really are eating vegetable, fruits, and nuts, and eggs, and you’re drinking water, and you’re eating all the right foods, but you’re still not losing weight. This is one thing that is very important, is that we start looking at your portions. One of the problems in our society is that on average the American food portions are so fricken huge, that even a small portion is still big.
Here’s an example: One time a friend of mine in Pennsylvania was getting married, and I had to pick up some of his friends from Scotland, who came to the States for the wedding. So I picked them up, and they’re like “Oh Steve, we’re starving, let’s get some food”. There happened to be a Panera Bread there, and they got one of those little dinky sandwiches and a little bowl of soup that you can get at Panera Bread, and I’ll never forget how just blown away they were at how big the portions were. I was like, this is the smallest meal that you can get in this country. So, its just our perception of portions is so skewed, because everything is so huge here.
So here’s what you do. First, let’s make sure you’re eating the right foods. And once we know you’re eating the right foods, we have to start cutting back on portions. Another good example is one of our members. Sorry Kim, but it’s a good story for people to learn from. I found out she was eating grass-fed beef every morning; but she was eating the whole package, one pound. One pound of meat, plus other food, just for breakfast. That’s too much. You can not lose weight, but you can also gain weight by eating too much of the right foods. So, to lose weight, it works every single time, it’s a law, an absolute law. Choose the right foods, and figure out portion control. If you eat the right foods, at the right portions, you’ll start losing weight for sure, every single time. If you think about it, all gastric bypasses or lap-band surgeries, all they are is surgical portion control, that’s it. You just have to have the willpower and the knowledge to show you healthy food and portions, and if you do it, it works every single time, for every single person. I’ve never seen it not work, I’ve worked with a number of people who are at a plateau, and once they really got serious and started monitoring it, boom, the pounds started falling off. I have yet to have it not happen.
