Your Name: Amelia Pena facebook_431387045

How many kids do you have and how old are they? 3….13, 11, 22 months

Do they have a favorite exercise to do with you? Max and Alex enjoy Yoga poses.

Do they have any favorite healthy foods? Apples

Do you have any tricks to get your kids to eat healthier foods or make healthier choices? I’ve found that smoothies are a good way to sneak in those extra veggies and fruits.

As you have learned more about health and wellness, what goals do you have for your family and children? Eating has been our number one priority. I have changed our households eating lifestyles a year ago and it has made a huge impact on my 13 year olds life. He was my chubby child and now he is one of the skinny ones. He has lost 40 pounds just from changing eating habits and becoming more active. He does his own research as well. He just gave me a lecture the other day on how important it was to feed Omari all natural foods because he read a study they did on how our culture and the way we eat now compared to our ancestors effects the way children grow. He is 13 and it blew me away, my children have been around fitness their whole lives. I started teaching group fitness classes like Zumba, TurboKick and PiYo when my oldest was 2. I’ve done multiple 5K’s, Half marathons so it has been around them. Makes a huge difference. I think I children learn by our example.

What obstacles have you overcome as a mother to maintain your health and wellness? Just staying consistent with eating habits. My 11 year old has high functioning Autism and everyday it’s a struggle to get him to eat something healthy. His diet consists of everything poisonous…lol. That is my struggle. Smoothies help.

How and why has being a member at Eupraxia impacted your roll as a mother and/or wife? Eupraxia has taught me so much!!! Everything I thought I knew about eating right….well some was correct and some was very misguided. Knowledge is power and I am so thankful for the knowledge. It has helped me feed my family better and be more firm in fighting to change Alex’s diet.

Dr. Steve says to have a purpose for staying healthy. How do you make your children a part of this purpose? My children are the purpose for everything I do. They’re the reason I became a nurse. They are my reason. I want to have the health and energy to give them and show them the world. But mainly to empower them to make the world better for themselves.

How have you passed on what you have learned at Eupraxia to your children? By living the lifestyle I teach and including them in it.

What advice do you have for moms just starting their journey? Children learn by example faster then they do to words.

Anything else you would like to share? We need to have a bring your kids 12 and up to workout day. I brought my son one day to work out with me. Steve showed him so much and my son loved it! I know it will stick with him forever!
