Joe

Joe-picHello everyone! My name is Joe Berdan, and I’m currently a 5th year senior at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse (and yes that said 5th year… taking a victory lap!). I’m majoring in Exercise and Sports Science with a Fitness emphasis, and nutrition minor to go with it. However, that’s not all there is to the story. Health and fitness have always been an important aspect in my life, and it began at a fairly early age. In elementary school, my father introduced me to the weight room at the high school, and taught me about the benefits that would stem from putting in hard work, being diligent, and pursuing whatever goals that I may have. That being said, I thought I had a grasp on what it took to be healthy, fit, and strong, even at such a young age. As I transitioned to high school, I became a three-sport athlete, and the gym was my safe haven. Around this same time, my two older sisters were beginning to struggle with eating disorders, and trying to figure out how to combat the demons that came with it. Although I was young, I was extremely aware of the trials and tribulations they were faced with. I would later help to be the rock that they could lean on when they needed, as they struggled with these disorders for multiple years. I believe that these two happenings in my life were the major reasons for my interest and passion for health and fitness. It helped me to understand that for a person to be truly healthy and fit, they have to balance and maintain multiple aspects of their being. Whether it is the mental, physical, emotional, or even spiritual aspect of our life, they all need to be worked on and taken care of. This led me to my pursuing the health and fitness fields, so that I could help assist those looking to change their lifestyle or even just better themselves in one aspect of their life. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I firmly believe with the right training and motivation, along with proper instruction and education, anyone and everyone can reach the goals that they set out for themselves. This is why I was excited to be given the opportunity to both intern and train here at Eupraxia. I’ve only been here for about a month now, and already can’t believe the community and atmosphere that Eupraxia provides to its members, along with the stellar nutrition approach and ever-changing workouts. The more I get to know the people, and how their system works, the more I believe and truly get behind Eupraxia and what they do. I’m in the process of embarking on my own journey here at Eupraxia, and can’t wait to see where it takes me! And I can’t wait to do it right alongside all of you people that make Eupraxia what it is… See you at the gym!
